What are PI and NNPI?

As the TDP of the CPUs is only of limited significance for the expected cooling performance, ARCTIC has developed indicators to make it easier to estimate and compare the performance of its coolers:

  • The "PI" or "Performance Indicator" indicates the cooling capacity the cooler must have at full speed in order not to exceed a heatspreader temperature of 30 °C above room temperature. The "PI" considers the maximum cooling potential independently of the noise level.
  • The "NNPI", on the other hand, stands for "Noise-normalised Performance Indicator" and differs from the "PI" by limiting the speed in order to level the noise level to 28 dB(A) at 50 cm. This enables a direct comparison of the cooling performance at the same noise level.

PEASE NOTE: The PI serves as the basis for the visual representation of the comparability of ARCTIC coolers in the CPU Performance Check.
